My mom was so whimsical, crafty, unserious, and saw the beauty in the little things. She had the superpower of making every moment feel like magic.

Since losing her, I’ve found myself searching for ways to spend time with her, even though she’s in heaven. She was a serial hobbyist; soap-making, crocheting, coloring, baking… she tried them all and always succeeded. Since losing her in March 2024, I’ve been searching for something that brings joy, peace, and makes me feel like I’m spending time with her earthside again.

I started diamond painting this year and became hooked. Creating a mosaic-like piece of art with little sparkly gems has helped me slow down, be creative, and make pieces that remind me of her and the things she loved. It has brought me closer to her in a way I didn’t expect.

From the moment I was born, my parents called me “Lexie Lou,” and somehow “Lou” just stuck, as if it was my given name. It’s a name that’s become part of my identity, and what the people closest to me still call me. This is my way of honoring her and sharing her child-like joy and whimsy with you.
